Mpumalanga-born singer Pretty Yende will be honoured with the International Achiever Award at the 23th annual South African Music Awards (SAMA) taking place on 27 May. The accolade will recognise the internationally-acclaimed opera soprano for her strides on the global scale.
Yende has shared the stage with the likes of opera icons like Andrea Bocelli and recently headlined new production Romeo et Juliette at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City.
She released her debut album A Journey last year. Yende has taken US television by storm gracing TV shows such as The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and The Wendy Williams Show, that’s if she is not rubbing shoulders with Oprah Winfrey and Whoopi Goldberg. She just got her Anna Wintour stamp of approval after she was featured in the latest issue of American Vogue magazine.
