‘La Traviata’ at Teatro di San Carlo

On July 22, 24, 27 and 29, Pretty Yende will reprise her signature role of Violetta Valéry in Giuseppe Verdi’s La Traviata at Teatro di San Carlo. This marks her last operatic engagement in the 2021-2022 season which brought her masterful portrayal of Violetta to the Royal Opera House, Wiener Staatsoper and Staatsoper Hamburg. She looks forward to returning to the role with San Francisco Opera in the 2022-2023 season.

Ferzan Özpetek’s production of the opera, originally created for Teatro di San Carlo in 2012, sets the drama in the Belle Époque era of Paris. Along with Ms. Yende, the thrilling cast will feature Francesco Demuro as Alfredo Germont, Carlos Alvarez as Giorgio Germont, Valeria Girardello as Flora Bervoix, Daniela Mazzuccato as Annina, Marco Miglietta as Gastone, Enrico Marabelli as Barone Douphol, Pietro Di Bianco as Marquis d’Obigny, Alessandro Spina as Doctor Grenvil, Michele Maddaloni as Giuseppe, Giacomo Mercaldo as Flora’s Waiter and Alessandro Lerro as Commissioner. Francesco Ivan Ciampa conducts.

Elvira in Bellini’s ‘I Puritani’ at Wiener Staatsoper

Pretty Yende stars as Elvira in John Dew’s magnificent production of Bellini’s I Puritani on May 20, 24, 28, & June 2 at Wiener Staatsoper. Her previous portrayal at the Metropolitan Opera garnered critical acclaim from Seen and Heart International, saying, “Yende triumphed in the part of Elvira with a marvelous voice, well-handled and with superb agilities, and a great facility in the high part of the tessitura.”

Under the baton of Francesco Lanzillotta, Ms. Yende stars alongside Roberto Tagliavini as Sir Giorgio, John Osborn as Lord Arturo Talbo, Igor Golovatenko as Sir Riccardo Forth, Ilja Kazakov as Lord Gualtiero Valton, Carlos Osuna as Sir Bruno Roberton, and Margaret Plummer as Enriquetta di Francia.

‘Don Pasquale’ at the Royal Opera House

On May 3, 6, & 9, Pretty Yende returns to the Royal Opera House to star as Norina in Donizetti’s Don Pasquale. Previously hailed for her stunning portrayals as Norina, Operawire praised her performance at Opéra national de Paris saying hr Norina is “witty, joyful and full of energy which helped you empathizes with this dark side of Norina.”

Ms. Yende will share the stage with Lucio Gallo as the title role, Xabier Anduaga as Ernesto, Andrzej Filonczyk as Malatesta, and Thomas Barnard as Notary. Giacomo Sagripanti conducts the Orchestra and Chorus of the Royal Opera House.

‘La traviata’ at Royal Opera House

On April 2, 5, 9, 11, 13 and 18, Pretty Yende will return to the Royal Opera House as Violetta in Verdi’s classic opera, La traviata.

This beloved production by Richard Eyre, which turns 28 this year, has become a mainstay at the Royal Opera House. Garnering great acclaim in its past iterations, the production has been described as “handsome” and  “magnificent”.

Joining Ms. Yende on stage will be Stephen Costello as Alfredo, Dimitri Platanias as Giorgio Germont, Kseniia Nikolaieva as Annina, David Shipley as Doctor Grenvil, Angela Simkin as Flora, Germán E. Alcántara as Baron Douphol, Andrés Presno as Gastone, Jeremy White as Marquis D’Obigny under the baton of Giacomo Sagripanti.

The opera will be broadcast live in cinemas on April 13, with an encore screening taking place on April 17.

Role debut in Offenbach’s ‘Les Contes d’Hoffmann’ at Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía

Pretty Yende launches into the New Year with her highly anticipated role debuts as Olympia, Antonia, Giulietta, and Stella in Offenbach’s Les Contes d’Hoffmann at Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía. Employing a richly suggestive visual language, director Johannes Erath examines the fate of a man who longingly stretches out his hand for love, but who pulls back when it threatens to become real. Marc Minkowski conducts.

On January 23, 26, 28, & 31, Ms. Yende will share the stage with Paula Murrihy as Nicklausse / La Muse, John Osborn as Hoffmann, Alex Esposito as Lindorf / Coppelius / Le Docteur / Le Capitaine, Moses Marin as Spalanzani, Tomislav Lavoie as Crespel / Maître Luther, Marcel Beekman as Andrès / Cochenille / Frantz / Pittichinaccio, and Roger Padullés as Nathanaël.

PBS to Broadcast Pretty Yende’s ‘Met Stars Live in Concert New Year’s Eve Gala’

Recorded in December of 2020, the Met rings in the new year with a gala performance featuring Met stars Pretty Yende, Angel Blue, Javier Camarena and Matthew Polenzani. Performing from the Parktheater in Kurhaus Göggingen, in Augsburg, Germany, the program features arias, duets and ensembles from Donizetti to Puccini, as well as arrangements of operetta and Neapolitan songs. Premieres Friday, December 31 on PBS (check local listings).

Teatro la Fenice’s “New Year’s Concert 2022”

On December 30, 31, and January 1, Pretty Yende stars alongside tenor Brian Jagde in Teatro la Fenice’s “New Year’s Concert 2022”. Maestro Fabio Luisi will conduct the celebratory event, with the first part of the program featuring Dvořák’s unforgettable Symphony No. 9 From the New World.

The second half of the program is dedicated to beloved arias and duets by Puccini, Verdi, Rossini, Ponchielli, Offenbach, and Gounod, among others. The evening concludes with what has now become a tradition at the Fenice New Year’s Concerts, the choir performing “Va’ Pensiero” from Nabucco and the toast “Libiam ne’ lieti calici” from Verdi’s La Traviata.

On January 1, the concert will be broadcast at 6.15pm on WDR + ARTE DE and 6.40pm on ARTE FR.
