The prestigious French opera publication, Opéra Magazine, has made Pretty Yende its June cover star.  She follows fellow South African soprano Elza van den Heever, as the magazine seeks to celebrate the emerging South African school of opera.  Ms. Yende is already making a name for herself in France, following her acclaimed Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Opéra de Paris in the spring of 2016, and the title role in Lucia di Lamermoor, also in Paris, in the fall of 2016.  She returns to the city this month, as part of the series “Les Grandes Voix ” at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées (June 28). The magazine’s current issue, number 129, was released June 3 in France, and features an exclusive interview with Ms. Yende.
